Summer music playlist

July 01, 2008

My husband and I love music so it isn't a surprise that our two children are clamoring for iPods of their own. Even though they are only 4 and 2, Little Miss Techie and Captain Computer already have diverse musical interests. Little Miss Techie is a huge fan of current Billboard artists, classic rock, and typical kid tunes. She loves The Godfather of Soul (James Brown), Peaches by the Presidents of the United States of America, Sesame Street's Ladybug Picnic, Rocknoceros' Days of the Week, and bopping along to Vacation (GoGo's) and Fergie's Fergalicious. Just don't tell her what the lyrics really mean!

We love listening to music together either live in concert, in the house, or cruising in the car. For our holiday weekend, we are road tripping to a college friend's wedding so we're revising iPod playlists to keep everyone in the car entertained.

Here's just a small sampling of what we may be listening to during our long road trip or around town:

  • Anything by the fabulous Northern Virginia based Rocknoceros
  • Ladybug Picnic- Sesame Street
  • Solsbury Hill- Peter Gabriel (Little Miss Techie likes the live version best)
  • Beautiful Day- U2
  • Horse with No Name- America (Little Miss Techie thinks the title is hilarious and loves the song)
  • King of 8- Sesame Street
  • Peaches- Presidents of the United States of America (Little Miss Techie loves to talk about the peaches that come from a can and were put there by a man in a factory downtown even though fresh peaches are her favorite)
  • Fergalicious- Fergie (probably shouldn't let my daughter listen to this!)
  • Suddenly I See- KT Tunstall (nicknamed the Towel Song by the children!)
  • Papa's Got a Brand New Bag- James Brown
  • Vacation- GoGos (the first song she always listens to on the way to school)
  • Lucky Star- Madonna
  • The Great Escape- Boys Like Girls (reminds me of summers in high school)
  • Viva la Vida- Coldplay (one of my new favorites)
  • Tell Me What We're Going to Do Now- Joss Stone
  • No One- Alicia Keys
  • Whenever, Wherever- Shakira (even better in Spanish)
  • SummerTime- DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince
  • La Isla Bonita- Madonna
  • Are You Gonna Go My Way- Lenny Kravitz (seeing Lenny perform this live at H.O.A.R.D.E. one summer years ago was amazing)
  • Bubbly- Colbie Caillat
  • The Boys of Summer- Don Henley
  • I've Had the Time of My Life- Dirty Dancing Soundtrack (spent a summer listing to this all the time with my BF Valerie)
  • Mexico- James Taylor
  • Holiday- Madonna
  • Pride (In the Name of Love)- U2
  • Ants Marching- Dave Matthews
  • Run Around- Blues Traveler
  • Summer of 69- Bryan Adams
  • Cruel Summer- Bananarama
  • With or Without You- U2
  • Cheeseburger in Paradise- Jimmy Buffett

Hey, so I just made a piczo site and it looks so awesome but it seemed that something was missing. Than I realized I should add some music so my friend recommended a really cool site.www.hypster.com. It's so quick and easy, anyone could do it! In a matter of minuets I had made a account and uploaded the music onto my music player, not only that but You can also edit your music player to match your site colours! and if you don't want to upload your own music, you can search on other users playlists and take any songs you want! It works for piczo, myspace, facebook, bebo etc. check it out! www.hypster
