Sun Protection Tips and Little Hat Company Giveaway
August 13, 2008
While the temperatures seem to have dropped in the DC area this week, the bright and almost cloudless skies still require diligent sun protection.
Kids get easily dehydrated so be sure to keep plenty of water on hand even when it seems cool since active children require lots of water
Protect skin and eyes from harmful UVA and UVB rays with constant applications of sunscreen (especially when in the water or actively sweating) and sunglasses. If in the water, a rash guard style swim shirt can also provide additional protection for young skin.
Finally, a great hat is always good to have on hand. I was recently introduced to Stroller Lids by The Little Hat Company which are both darling for babies and stylish for preschoolers through elementary ages.
Located in South Berwick, Maine, the handmade lids are ideal for protecting your child from the sun and keeping heads warm as the weather turns cooler as we head into fall. Stroller Lids are made of high quality cotton, are lined with a lightweight flannel so they will be soft when resting on your child's head, and are trimmed with grosgrain ribbon. Lids come in 5 different sizes and begin with Baby for 1-6 month olds to Big Kid sizes for 6-7 year olds.
The Little Hat Company makes a line called Buttons & Bows reminiscent of classic sun hats and an adorable Strawberry Patch Stroller Lid that looks just like a ripe strawberry with its green felt stem. They also make cozy little hats specially designed for preemies.
Win your child a Stroller Lid from The Little Hat Company! Enter to win by leaving a comment telling me which of the following hats you would like to win along with your e-mail address so I can contact you when you win.
