Looking Back on December

December 31, 2008

I don't know about you, but December was a whirlwind that went by way too quickly.  If you feel the same way, I thought my monthly recap would focus on all the great tips that were shared this month by Being Savvy guest contributors.

Rashmi Turner, founder of Global Wonders, urges us to resolve to make an effort to introduce our children to "more aspects of the world around them, so they will develop a greater appreciation of not only their own cultural background, but those of all people in the world."  To read her entire post and enter the giveaway for a randomly selected DVD from the Global Wonders collection, click here.

Families Fighting Flu board members and Falls Church residents, Gary and Doris Stein, shared their personal story about losing a child to the flu.  Click here to read about how to protect your family from the flu.

Planning a big to-do for New Year's Eve?  Then it isn't too late to read Giant Food Consumer Advisor, Andrea Astrachan's advice about how to save yourself some time to have a stress free event.  Click here for her fabulous tips.

Friend and fellow DC Metro Mom writer, Jodi from Jodifur, shared a list of the best Hanukkah books and toys.  While Hanukkah is over for this year, this is a post I'm keeping in mind for next year!  Check it out here.

Resolving to be healthier in 2009?  Then you won't want to miss Corina DuBois' post about how to remain healthy.  Corina is a mom, entrepreneur, and owner of the Montgomery County Stroller Strides franchise.  Her workouts are amazing and a great way to stay in shape with a little one in tow.  While Corina provided advice about staying healthy over the holidays, many of her tips are applicable throughout the year.

As parents, we aren't just busy at the holidays but are throughout the year.  I'm always looking for timesavers and wanted to remind Being Savvy DC readers that Chelsea Benetez from Elite Occasions has offered you a 10% discount on her gift baskets.  Click here for her gift giving tips which are great throughout the year.

We are always looking for fresh voices to provide some insight as Being Savvy guest contributors.  If you are interested in being a guest contributor for Being Savvy Washington DC, e-mail us at beingsavvydc (at) savvysource (dot) com.  We look forward to hearing from you!
