Favorite Memory Games for Preschoolers

January 12, 2009

Memory is a classic game for preschoolers.  Not only is playing a great way to spend quality family time, but the game itself teaches non-verbal skills.  Memory games force children to think and use visual reasoning skills in order to discriminate between similarities and differences of the objects they are seeing while also teaching social skills like turn taking and good sportsmanship.

But if the classic Memory game has lost its appeal and you are in search of a new game that will teach the same skills using a different set of objects, check out the following:

I Never Forget a Face Memory Game- This great memory game is based on the nuances of faces and features 24 pairs of multi-cultural faces for matching.

Find the Rhyme: A First Rhyming Game- This memory game is perfect for beginning readers and children who love to rhyme since the task is to find and match 20 rhyming pairs.

Bingory- This game is described as being a combination of bingo and Memory since you play by completing your bingo card with matching pairs.

Life on Earth Memory Game- This game has gorgeous illustrations that feature plants, insects, and animals for children to match.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Puzzle- Based on Eric Carleâ??s classic story, kids will have fun putting together their favorite caterpillar and matching pieces to create what he ate.
